Hi, I’m Shona Thorne, Director here at Thorne Travel. I have always been passionate about travel. I believe that holidays are so important for improving our wellbeing, expanding our cultural knowledge and, most importantly, bringing family and friends together.
Actually, some of my earliest memories are of travelling to Cornwall with my parents and sister. We had great fun scrambling up the sand dunes, jumping over crashing waves and splashing about in the sea.
It may surprise you to know that it was never my intention to work in the travel industry. After completing my honours degree at university, I decided to change careers with a large travel company who were expanding into Glasgow. This provided great opportunities and allowed my passion for travel and adventure to grow.
I went on to work in various customer service and senior management roles for some of the UK’s largest travel companies, but my dream was always to own and operate my own travel agency. In 2009, that dream became a reality when I established Thorne Travel.
I am exceptionally proud of the team here at Thorne Travel. They are a great bunch of people who work really hard to deliver quality holidays at great prices for our amazing customers.
