Hello, I’m Katie Roy and I’m an apprentice travel consultant at Thorne Travel.
I joined the team in July 2023 following my successful completion of HNC Travel & Tourism at Ayrshire College.
I have always enjoyed travelling from a very young age and making each journey one that’s full of memories!
What’s the most unforgettable trip you’ve ever taken?
For me, the highlight was definitely in 2019 when I travelled to the USA and Canada. I was part of a large group, and I’ll never forget the whirlwind of exploring New York in just 12 hours, camping for two weeks in West Virginia, and the bus ride to Ontario, Canada. Meeting a family there and visiting Niagara Falls made it all unforgettable.
What’s one destination that surprised you in a good way?
Switzerland holds a special place in my memories. Having visited in both summer and winter, I will always remember witnessing the transformation of the mountains from lush green to pristine white under snow. From hiking to skiing, every moment was unforgettable. Route 55 is the longest run in Adelboden and it took my breath away; you can ski a remarkable 7 kilometers from top to bottom.
Are you more of a beach lounger or an adventure seeker?
I enjoy both. I love relaxing by the pool and soaking up the sun but I also enjoy new adventurous experiences.
What’s your dream travel destination that you haven’t visited yet?
I don’t have one dream destination; I simply want to explore the world – everywhere and anywhere.
What’s your go-to travel hack or tip that you always share with clients?
Create one detailed list of everything you’ll need for a holiday and keep it somewhere safe. That way, when you’re packing, you won’t have to think or rewrite your packing list each time.
Make memories – Look at what’s around you and soak up the scenery don’t live life through your phone – you’ll miss it!
What’s one destination you think everyone should visit at least once in their life?
Summit of Mount Everest, it’s a destination that captivates adventurers, climbers, and nature enthusiasts alike!
