Sunshine for the Soul in Torremolinos

There’s something magical about coastal getaways — the salty sea breeze, the sound of waves, and the promise of unforgettable memories. My recent trip to Torremolinos with my lovely travel buddy Gemma was exactly that — a feel-good escape filled with laughter, amazing food, and moments that reminded us it’s the little things that make a holiday special.

Feel-Good Vibes at Hotel Puente Real

We stayed at the ever-welcoming Hotel Puente Real, ideally set just steps from the seafront. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and smiles. The hotel had a wonderfully relaxed, friendly atmosphere — perfect for couples, families, and groups of friends alike.

The two large outdoor pools and children’s pool were beautifully maintained, with plenty of sun loungers and a great pool bar serving up refreshing drinks — ideal for those chill-out moments under the sun.

Dining was another highlight! The main buffet restaurant offered something for everyone, and during the summer, families will appreciate the dedicated children’s menu.

There was also a full programme of activities and entertainment, and even on the slightly cloudier days, there was never a dull moment. Whether it was live music, or a fun evening show, the energy was always upbeat and fun.

Adventures Beyond the Hotel

We ventured out to explore some of the gems in the area. One of the highlights was a trip to the breathtaking Nerja Caves — a true natural wonder. The enormous rock formations and ancient history hidden beneath the earth’s surface were absolutely mesmerising.

We also spent time exploring the lovely coastal town of Nerja, with its charming streets, boutique shops, and inviting cafés. Another standout spot was Casa de los Navajas — a beautifully restored historic mansion right in the heart of Torremolinos. Its Moorish architecture and manicured gardens made it a peaceful and photogenic stop.

Culinary Bliss at Coco Bambú

To wrap up our holiday, we treated ourselves to dinner at Coco Bambú, located right on Bajondillo Beach — and what an experience it was! With its chic surf-inspired design and beachfront views, the setting was absolutely stunning.

The food? Incredible. The menu brings together flavours from some of the world’s most vibrant surf cultures — Japan, Thailand, Mexico, Brazil, California and more. Every bite was bursting with flavour, and the presentation was spot on. It was the perfect way to toast to the end of our trip, and definitely a restaurant we’ll return to on our next visit.

Looking Back with a Smile

Our time in Torremolinos was filled with joy, laughter, and a few surprises — the good kind. While the weather wasn’t always on our side, the warm hospitality, exciting activities, and delicious food more than made up for it. Hotel Puente Real was the perfect home base, and the memories we made will stick with us for a long time to come.
