Exploring Marrakech Morocco

This particular adventure took me to the cultural city of Marrakech in November 2024. I have previously travelled a lot with family – but Marrakech was something completely different and a truly unforgettable experience.

We stayed at the stunning Riad Medjad and Spa, which is located on the edge of the medina. It provides traditional rooms, an outdoor plunge pool and a rooftop terrace. Offering a peaceful retreat before venturing out to discover the local attractions and wonders of Marrakech.

On our first night, we did a local street food tour, this allowed us to taste a variety of dishes that the locals cherish.

The highlight of our trip was without a doubt, our sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Agafay Desert. We had an early morning pickup, followed by a short drive to the site. I expected it to be freezing, but surprisingly, moving with the wind made it a comfortable temperature. Watching the sun rise with music playing was truly amazing. After landing, we enjoyed breakfast with the group, chatting about the incredible experience.

On our final day we had a guided tour of the Ouzoud Waterfalls we both enjoyed the scenic trail, spotting all of the monkeys in the surrounding trees, and taking a boat ride to get up close to the waterfall.

On the return home, we had some local currency left which cannot be taken out of the country so we spent it in the airport on some snacks then headed through some more security before boarding the plane home.

I would highly recommend Marrakech. You can choose to go all-inclusive for total relaxation or, like I did, choose bed and breakfast and take the opportunity to explore many attractions. Either way, it’s an experience you won’t forget!
