I absolutely love Amsterdam. It’s such an easy wee city break from the UK and you’re right into the centre not long after landing. The whole place just has a buzz about it. Colourful buildings, pretty canals, bikes everywhere and the cutest little cafés tucked down side streets.
We stayed at NH City Centre Amsterdam and the location was spot on. It’s about two minutes from Dam Square so you can walk pretty much everywhere. Everyone there was so friendly and helpful, our room was cleaned daily, and I was very happy to find a coffee machine in the room. Morning coffee before heading out exploring is a non negotiable for me.
Ripley’s Believe It or Not!
Such a good laugh. You can easily spend hours in here because there’s so much to see. It’s packed with weird and wonderful things and you even get great views over Dam Square.
Red Light District Museum
Really interesting and actually so informative. It gives you a proper insight into the history and stories behind the area and adds a lot more context when you’re walking around it later.
ICEBAR Amsterdam
So much fun. You get wrapped up warm and drink cocktails from glasses made of ice. It’s bright, freezing and completely different from your usual bar experience.
House of Rituals
The perfect escape from the busy streets. It’s calm, luxurious and feels like a total reset. I tried the Hydro Massage which was amazing for sore muscles, then a Brain Massage that left me feeling so relaxed. I floated out of there.
Walking the streets
One of the best things to do in Amsterdam is simply wander. It’s completely flat so you can walk for miles without realising. The canals are stunning and you’ll stumble across boutique shops, cheese stores, cosy coffee spots and hidden gems everywhere.
Fiona Restaurant
Such a vibe. It feels stylish and a little bit fancy but still really fun. The food was unreal. Definitely book ahead. If you go for the early sitting between 5 and 6pm you get a complimentary mango margarita which I was very happy about.
Sweet Tree
I go here every single time. If you love speciality coffee, bubble tea and sweet treats you’ll be obsessed. It’s cute, cosy and perfect for an afternoon pick me up.
