Hey everyone! It’s Megan & Katie here – and we just had the most amazing overnight stay on AE Expeditions’ Greg Mortimer, and we had to share it with you.
This isn’t just any ship – the Greg Mortimer is an absolute beauty, purpose-built for adventure and polar exploration. It was actually the first passenger ship to feature the game-changing Ulstein X-BOW®, which slices through waves like a hot knife through butter – translation: a much smoother ride.
From the second we stepped onboard, we were blown away. The communal areas felt so cosy and inviting – think boutique hotel vibes with a side of epic expedition energy. The staterooms? Gorgeous. Many of them have private balconies (yes please to morning coffee with a glacier view).
We loved wandering around the observation decks – so open and perfect for wildlife spotting or just taking in the views with that crisp ocean air. And yes, we fully pretended we were in a David Attenborough documentary.
We popped into the lecture theatre, where expert guides give fascinating talks (think climate change, polar wildlife, and local culture), and we even found time to chill in the library and lounge, complete with wildlife guidebooks, binoculars, and big comfy chairs to melt into.
There’s also an onboard shop full of expedition gear, books and fab souvenirs – we may or may not have picked up matching penguin mugs.
Other highlights? The mudroom for all your outdoor gear, jacuzzis on the top deck, a sauna, and even a gym if you’re feeling energetic between adventures. And let’s not forget the food – delicious meals served in a super relaxed dining space where fellow explorers share stories and laughter.
We only stayed one night, but wow – we got a real taste of the AE Expeditions experience. The Greg Mortimer isn’t just a ship; it’s a launchpad to once-in-a-lifetime adventures in some of the most awe-inspiring places on Earth.
Honestly? We didn’t want to leave.
