Why Singapore is My Favourite City

As a certified beach bum, it takes a lot for a city to steal my heart—but Singapore did just that. This incredible city blends towering skyscrapers with lush gardens, glistening water, and some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. Throw in mouthwatering food and endless things to see and do, and it’s no wonder I’m hooked.

One of my absolute highlights is Gardens by the Bay. Those glowing Supertrees you’ve probably seen in photos? They’re even more magical in person, especially during the nightly light show. The Cloud Forest is a must too—it’s like stepping into another world. Even if you’re short on time, make this a priority. Who knows, you might even spot a celeb or two wandering around!

Over at Marina Bay Sands, the waterfront vibes are unreal. Stroll along the promenade, snap a pic with the Merlion, and soak up the nighttime buzz with light shows and live music. There’s no shortage of fancy bars and restaurants in the area, though they can be a bit pricey. When I’m staying in the area, my go-to is the Mandarin Oriental, and trust me, a Marina Bay View room is worth every penny for those jaw-dropping views and the view from the pool area is amazing.
Food in Singapore is a whole adventure in itself. The hawker centres are legendary—think Hainanese chicken rice, laksa, or satay in Chinatown. Want to treat yourself? Afternoon tea at Raffles, complete with a classic Singapore Sling, is an experience to remember. Just make sure to book ahead!

When it’s time for a bit of retail therapy, Orchard Road is where it’s at. Whether you’re splurging on luxury brands or just soaking up the buzz, it’s a shopaholic’s dream (or even just a great spot to people-watch!).

For a night out, Clarke Quay is unbeatable. Riverside bars, vibrant nightlife, and even boat tours—it’s the perfect spot to kick back with a drink and enjoy the city lights.

If you’re craving some greenery, the Southern Ridges are a fantastic escape. The Henderson Waves Bridge is not only a workout but also ridiculously Instagrammable, with views that make it worth every step.

There’s just something about Singapore’s energy. It’s clean, safe, and full of surprises around every corner. Whether you pair it with a trip to Australia, a cruise, or just dive into the city itself, Singapore is a destination you’ll fall head over heels for—just like I did.
