A Memorable City Break in Krakow
I’ve just returned from a wonderful city break in Krakow, and I absolutely loved every moment of it! From the stunning Old Town to the relaxing thermal baths, this trip was filled with unforgettable experiences. Let me take you through some of the highlights of my adventure.
Where I Stayed
I stayed at the Aparthotel Old Town, which turned out to be a fantastic choice. Its central location made it easy to explore the city, and I was impressed by how spotlessly clean and well-equipped it was. It had all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay, making it a perfect base for my Krakow adventures.
Highlights of My Trip
Day Trip to Zakopane
and the Thermal Baths This was undoubtedly the highlight of my trip! I took an early coach to Zakopane, a picturesque town surrounded by stunning forests and rich in local culture. The shops and restaurants offered a delightful glimpse into Polish traditions, and I couldn’t resist trying traditional dishes like Pierogi, Kwasnica, and the famous Oscypek cheese. The thermal baths were the cherry on top. They had everything from a salt chamber and sauna to an outdoor thermal pool and even waterslides! The combination of relaxation and fun made this an experience I’ll always cherish.
Exploring Krakow’s Old Town Krakow’s Old Town
is even more breathtaking in person than in pictures. The area is immaculate, with beautifully preserved buildings and a charming atmosphere. Whether you’re wandering through the cobblestone streets or admiring the architecture, there’s a magical feeling that’s hard to describe.
Mr. Black Cocktail Bar
For a unique night out, I visited Mr. Black Cocktail Bar, an immersive speakeasy that blew me away with its creative cocktails. The ambiance was perfect for an evening of unwinding and indulging in expertly crafted drinks.
The Wax Museum
Located near the Old Town, the Wax Museum was a quirky stop that provided plenty of laughs. While some of the wax figures were a bit eerie, it added to the overall fun and made for a memorable visit.
Galeria Krakowska
Just a short walk from the Old Town, Galeria Krakowska is a massive shopping center that’s perfect for retail therapy. With a wide variety of shops, it’s easy to lose track of time while exploring all it has to offer.
Mural Street Food
I absolutely loved the vibe at Mural Street Food, where a collection of food trucks served up everything from burgers and Mexican dishes to Indian cuisine and pizza. The cozy bar area was a great spot to relax with a cup of mulled wine, adding a warm touch to the chilly evenings.
Final Thoughts
One of the most pleasant surprises of this trip was how affordable everything was. From food and drinks to clothing and souvenirs, I found it easy to stick to my budget without sacrificing quality. Even airport transfers were reasonably priced. As a solo traveler, I felt completely safe throughout my stay, and the locals’ friendliness made the experience even better.
Krakow has left a lasting impression on me, and I can’t wait to return someday. Whether you’re seeking culture, relaxation, or just a change of scenery, this vibrant city has something for everyone!
