As I walked up, the hotel looked ‘nice’ it looked small and looked like any other country house, however when I walked in I was instantly wow’d by both the size and the decor. I don’t know what my initial expectation was however it over delivered. Upon arrival I met with the hotel manager where I was given a tour of the hotel room, with family rooms sleeping up to 5 and Jacuzzi rooms the refurbishment was shining through and each room was as luxurious to the next.
Eating out is one of my favourite things, and some people like to joke that I don’t actually have a cooker in my home…….Upon arriving at the new restaurant I wondered why I had not yet visited. The decor was beautiful in a modern and rustic manner, With leather chesterfield sofa’s and low wooden beams the dining area most certainly impressed. I look forward to returning and trying some of the delicious dishes on the menu. If you have not yet been have a look at the menu at the Plumpy Duck, I think you will be impressed.
After the tour of the hotel I was shown into the newly refurbished leisure centre, I was immediately impressed by the changing rooms, It may seem like the least important part of the spa day but they were clean, warm and of a high standard and a great 1st impression. There was a lovely pool area, perfect for relaxing or doing a few lengths. A Sauna & Jacuzzi also in the area and I would have happily stayed here most of the day, however I had a treatment booked in the Spa. A short flight of stairs took me to the spa reception where the aroma of the ESPA products was enough to send me into immediate relaxation. The staff everywhere had already been wonderful and the Spa area was no different. I was given my Robe, Slippers and the fluffiest of towels by the kind staff.
The Spa at Bowfield has a range of different massages, and ironically before I went we had been talking in the office about how we like our massages. At the Bowfield you get to choose your pressure Gentle/Medium/Firm – as well as a range of oils detoxifier, de-stresser, muscle relaxer, jet-lag eliminator, immune booster and energiser.
On this occasion I chose to have Swedish massage and as someone who likes to Spa as often as possible and have visited Spa up and down the country – I would say it would have to be one of the best massages I have had.
The treatment rooms were immaculately decorated, I was relaxed and the rooms were warm and the heated bed was bliss. With Candles and relaxation music throughout, my senses were well and truly engaged. After the massage I had the option of using the Sauna, rainbow showers or head to a relaxation room. With my complementary bottled water I headed to the relaxation room where I admired the opulent decor and almost fell asleep as it was so calming. As I chilled out my mind wandered to when my next excuse would be to go, and thought it would be an ideal Mothers Day Gift as for £79 for 2x25minute treatments (or 1 50minute) and either Afternoon Tea or 2 course meal with full use of the leisure facilities it would be an ideal gift for my Mum on Mother Days, however does anyone ever really need an excuse……… I’ll be back again very soon with my Mum but will also make a trip up myself next time I am in need of full relaxation and pampering.
